Following the screening of Disney’s Frozen, a wonderfully, delightful comedy adventure movie (stay tuned for my review), I had the opportunity to interview one of my favorite actresses, Kristen Bell.
Kristen Bell is as petite and pretty as her photos on the red carpet would suggest until she starts responding to questions with the enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and excitement as you hope a bestie would act. Yes, bestie.
I happily admit I adore Kristen Bell, her iconic, television show Veronica Mars is not only one my favorite television shows of all times, I think she will go down in television history as one the best female role models that television put forth. I could not push the send button fast enough when I was offered the chance to interview her for her latest project, playing Anna in Disney’s Frozen.
Playing Anna, a fearless optimist who sets off on an epic journey to find her sister (voiced by Idina Mendzel), who has trapped the kingdom with her icy powers. Anna must embark on this fateful journey to save her kingdom, Arendelle.
Watching the movie, I naturally assumed that Kristen’s singing was dubbed well, I learned that she actually sings the songs in the film. Surprise, who knew? Kristen admitted that she studied music when she was younger and thinks that she has “very traditional musical theatre voice” and which personally, I think is amazing. It’s nice to see an actor be able to showcase another one of their talents in a movie like Disney’s Frozen.
What little girl doesn’t want to be a Disney Princess, certainly Kristen expressed her feelings that she was like every American girl in that regard but she never saw an animated heroine like herself, one that was a bit awkward, spoke too fast and spoke before she thought. Listening to her, you realize that her personality is so much a part of the “Anna” character Her portrayal of Ann, is relatable, accessible and so “Anna” which offers girls a chance to see a Disney Princess (yes, Anna and her sister, Elsa are Princesses) with unique qualities and totally relatable.
And even though, the interview was focused on her role in Disney’s Frozen, I could not help but ask okay, I whispered if we were allowed to ask about the upcoming Veronica Mars movie and she said yes. Seriously, most of the journalists in the room were dying to ask her. She did talk about how for the last seven years (has it been that long), no matter where she goes, people ask her when are they making the Veronica Mars movie and how exciting the Kickstarter journey turned out so well.
Without giving away too much, the sister story line will warm your heart and provide viewers with a different idea of what true love means. FROZEN opens in theatres everywhere on November 27th! It is a must see movie for the holidays.
