My daughter has been taking ballet for the last four years and will be performing in The Nutcracker in the next couple of weeks. It seemed appropriate that we take in a professional Nutcracker performance so we checked out the The Yorkville Nutcracker presented by Dances Patrelle.
That The Yorkville Nutcracker takes place in 1895 and takes the audience on a tour of Olde New York’s most beloved landmarks, including a holiday party at Gracie Mansion, dancing at the Crystal Palace in the New York Botanical Garden, and skating in Central Park makes this a unique performance versus the traditional Nutcracker. We both loved the beautifully decorated sets, the landmarks and of course the ballet company. Nothing says Christmas like Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker music.
If you can, definitely make an effort to check out this version of The Nutcracker as it’s only playing until this Sunday, December 11, 2011.
