Since my brother’s arrival, it has been said more often than not how alike we are. Okay, maybe but the one person I don’t talk that much about is my sister who is really nothing like us. She is far more gregarious and open than either my brother or me.
Last week, my sister called up and wanted to speak to my brother. It was Sunday and of course, he was off watching the Browns play. I asked her why she needed to speak to him. She wanted him to call our nephew and pretend to be Santa. I said sure thinking he is just going to call and ask him what he wanted. Boy were both us wrong.
So here is the “script” my brother was sent by my sister. This shows you the wackiness of my sister in that after sending it she wanted my brother to call my nephew then and there. Needless to say, my brother had to wait another day so he could memorize the script.
Read it, as it is just too funny.
From my sister to my brother:
This is the best form of communication for this surprise. J. listens to every word I say when I’m on the phone.
Okay, so you’ll ask the usual:
Have you been a good boy?
Do you obey your mother and father? – Please reinforce this. He’s very strong willed and knows every one of my buttons to push.
Are you doing well in school?
Are you practicing your ABCs and you numbers when you get home?
Fun facts you can talk about:
He lost his first tooth a couple of weeks ago and got $2 from the tooth fairy. He has another one hanging by a thread.
His favorite video game is Sonic the Hedgehog.
He loves Transformers, especially Bumble Bee.
His favorite cartoons are Adventure Time, Power Rangers, Hot Wheels Battle Force Five, Phineas and Ferb. If you haven’t caught Phineas and Ferb, you’re really missing out. It is the greatest cartoon ever made, hands down.
He’s trying to learn a little Spanish.
Then of course, the important things. What does he want for Christmas. We already know about the Nintendo DS. He has asked about it every single day since his cousin got one in March. If he asks for a puppy, let him down gently. Tell him he might have to wait for his birthday because we’ll be moving soon.
I wish I could have taped the entire conversation because it was truly hilarious, my brother actually sounded like Santa with the deep, baritone voice. I look forward to a day when my nephew is older and remembers the day Santa called. He will either be angry we deceived him or happy we did. Time will tell.
