Countdown To Turkey Day — What You Need To Do Now!

Day 1 – Decide fresh or frozen and order your turkey.
Day 2 – Start planning the menu and create your guest list. Here a few to consider: Thanksgiving Side Dishes, Thanksgiving Stuffing Recipes and Thanksgiving Desserts.
Day 3 – Prepare your grocery list and don’t forget to stock up on staples-paper goods, candies, beverages, inexpensive toys to entertain kids.
Day 4 – Check your linens for visible stains and clean (or buy new) if necessary Day 5 – Check your spices, assess your cooking equipment and plan to buy or borrow what you need.
Day 6 – Clean the house thoroughly so you can focus on other projects. Put the oven through a self-cleaning cycle. Do a cobweb check by flicking on the lights or chandelier in the dining room.
Day 7 – Grocery shop.
Day 8 – Iron linens that need it and lay them out, if possible, so they don’t re-wrinkle. Set out your serving dishes and utensils and define their use with sticky notes (e.g., “Brussels sprouts here”).
Day 9 – Start thawing the bird in the refrigerator and chill white wine.
Day 10 – Begin prepping all of the sides, send someone out to buy ice and set the table.

Thanksgiving Day – Stuff the turkey and get it roasting, make the potatoes and veggies, whip the cream and, transfer the bird to the platter, make the gravy , reheat sides if needed, serve, sit down and dig in — don’t forget to warm the pies after dinner is served.
