Taking Risks and Not Afraid Looking Foolish Doing It – Dear Daughter

August 1, 2013 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

I am a wimp, I have always been a wimp when it comes to trying new things. Okay let me specific, I hate trying things that will make me look foolish especially anything physical.

Pogo

Horseback riding that was a major fail in college, skateboarding, almost killed myself, moped riding in Greece (I ran into a wall and torn my knee apart), I could go on.

That is not my daughter, she is game to try anything, ride a roller coaster like Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom with it’s 80 foot drop, try skateboard, you name it.

This weekend there was an Pogopalooza event focused Pro Xpogo Athletes competing in Pogopalooza 10 (yes, there is now a competition for extreme Pogo riding) As part of the the event,  visitors were try riding a  pogo stick. And of course my daughter insisted in standing in the rain so she could try.

My daughter was so excited to try to ride a pogo and good god determined to accomplish staying aboard. 45 minutes later, her longest time on the pogo stick 9 seconds.  I just loved that she kept trying and didn’t care how funny she looked or that she almost fell a few times. It was just hilarious watching her. I hope she keeps taking risks and doesn’t care that she looks funny doing it.

And I am pretty sure she will be able to ride a moped without running into a wall.

Love the fearlessness of your daughter. Life is made to be enjoyed with a few bumps and scraps long the way. Hopefully you’ll join her in some 🙂

Oh my goodness, she is brave! I loved using a pogo stick when I was younger, but would be so scared to try it now. You’re daughter is awesome!
