Making Lifetime Memories at Disney World @DisneyWorld

May 3, 2013 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Disney World, Florida, Single Mom Daily Life

It’s funny, I knew that I would take my daughter to Disney World at least one time during her childhood but we just came back from our third trip to Disney World.  I know there are hard-core Disney aficionados who go  to Disney Parks every year but not us.

family reunions, Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain, walt disney world packages, walt disney world memories, disney princesses, walt disney world travel tips

My former manager took her kids every year during summer break. Before, I adopted my daughter I thought “why” but I know now. There is a reason why Disney World’s catch phrase is the “Happiest Place on Earth” because it is.

The reason for our latest trip was to spend extra time with my California cousin and his family. On previous trips to Disney World, it was just us or we went for the Disney Social Media Moms conference. The Disney World trip was an add-on to our surprise visit for my aunt’s 80th birthday celebration.

One drawback to living in New York is that I am not close to any of my family, so I try to look for opportunities to see them when I can. The last time I saw my cousin an and his family was when we took a trip to visit him  San Francisco, that was almost 4 years ago. Too long in my opinion.

Given that his sons and my daughter are around the same age, it seemed the perfect fit to go as a group. I want my daughter to get to know her cousins and vice-versa as I do think  and we would agree family ties are important even if they are three thousand miles away.

Even though we spent only a day at Disney World in Magic Kingdom and Epcot Center, it was action packed with some of our favorite rides like Splash Mountain (my personal favorite), Space Mountain and everyone’s must ride “It’s a Small World.”

We took the kids during Christmas of 2012. We love it there and really want to go every year, but it’s just not feasible. We are saving up for a big Disney vacation. We might go in a few years, you know, when we don’t have to bring any strollers with us. We want to bring the kids when they are a little older.

We are planning a trip for 2015, so excited to go! My kids will be 8 and 5, hopefully a good age for them both. You post really got me excited.

I’ve never been to Disney World. My parents were not the adventurous type. And as parents we’ve never had the opportunity to make it happen for our own kids. But it sounds like an amazing adventure. It would be a blast to go. I bet you all had an amazing time!
