December 6 Prompt – Make #Reverb10

December 6, 2010 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

Gingerbread House Kit

I took a break over the weekend  well actually not. December 4 and 5th prompts were hard and December 6 is not easy either. Damn this project.

December 6, 2010 Prompt: Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?  The Happiness Project  @gretchenrubin

What the hell is the last thing I made?

What does that even mean? Dinner, sewing project, a tree house?? Obviously, this prompt sent me a wandering around my apartment and yikes, I haven’t made anything in quite awhile.

There was a time, I actually did make stuff, like pillows, tablecloths, curtains but that was before my daughter came along. Now I am just happy to buy the stuff. Sewing projects take entirely too much time although I always have the best of intentions. A few weeks ago, I actually bought pillow tassels and fringe for a pillow project. Needless to say the bag is now sitting in my closet along with the cute, funky patches that I was going to sew on my daughter’s holey jeans. I just let those jeans go.

I could say I made a cake for her birthday but that seems lame, right.

Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?

Yes, two things.  Courtesy of BJ’s Wholesale Club, I received a Lyndon Reede gingerbread house kit.  My daughter was excited and wants to make it Christmas Eve for Santa. How cute, right? So that’s project number one.

The other project is to actually follow through on my pillow project. Why not start the new year off right by making my abode a more fun place to live and relax.  Of course, I know need to find time to shop for fabric. Stay Tuned..

My wife and I bought the Lyndon Reede Ginger Bread House as a fun thing to do, unfortunately our icing instructions are missing!?!

Neither of us have any real cooking / baking experience so we have no clue how to prepare (heat up) the icing provided.

Do we microwave it? Warm it up in hot water?

    Thanks!
