Dealing with the Roller Coaster – Tween Drama #TweenLife

April 25, 2013 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Lifestyle

someecards.com - I can create drama out of anything, Dealing with the Roller Coaster Tween Drama

What is about girls that makes their friendship such a roller coaster ride of emotions? This is just a sampling of comments my daughter has made to me over the last couple of weeks.

“Bee is trying to turn the other girls against me”
“Bee called Susan and me liars, I don’t know why she’s the liar.”
“ I don’t want her to text me anymore so it’s okay if you tell I can ‘t talk to her.”
“Bee made Susan cry today, I am not her friend anymore.”
“Jayne is not really mean, she is just hanging out with one of the mean girls.”

Good grief! These are just random comments that aren’t even prompted by me and just  imagine what must take place in class all day long. The male teacher,  Mr. B. must tearing out his hair everyday dealing with this tween drama.

What makes the situation even more wackadoo is that my daughter is just a subset of the entire tween drama in class. She told me that one day all the girls missed recess to meet with the school therapist because there was so much tween drama going on. There are actually sub segments of mean girls and the girls they pick on.

Nuts right!  I seriously do not remember this much drama at 9 or 10 years old, either that or I blanked it out.

What is truly scary is that this is only the fourth grade! It’s only going to get worse and more intense.  This is the part where I can see why rich people ship their kids off to boarding school.  But alas for me, I will go the route of having a glass of wine to calm my nerves.

I remember those days with my daughter. The drama is unbelievable.
