You Are A Mean Mommy – Therapy Thursday

November 3, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

“You are a Mean Mommy.” Next to “I Hate You”, who doesn’t want to hear that as a mom. My daughter announced this to me recently, after I raised my voice  at her about not doing something. I say raising my voice, and my daughter’s interpretation is that I am yelling. After I “yelled” at […]

Ringer’s Sarah Michelle Gellar – Wordless Wednesday Linky

November 1, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life, Wordless Wednesday

We came upon this huge poster of Sarah Michelle Gellar now starring in one my favorite new Fall shows Ringer. My daughter did not need to be prompted to pose like the actress. Hilarious!

Your Mom Is A Lesbian – Bullying Tales from Grade School

October 31, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Adoption, Single Mom Daily Life

For the record, I am not a Lesbian.  This reminds of a scene from Four Weddings and A Funeral (if you haven’t seen it, rent it, truly funny) that best explains my situation. A wedding guest, Mrs. Beaumont asks Fiona (Kristen Scott Thomas) during one of the weddings scenes,  if she was a Lesbian. Fiona: […]

Who doesn’t love the folks who get into Comic Con?

Crossing the Street During My World Trade Center Commute

October 25, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

Today’s video is of my daily commute. I work downtown near the World Trade Center site. I have no idea how many people work in and around the World Trade Center but it’s a lot. The video captures the madness I have to deal with just to cross the street. People crossing from the opposite side […]

October 19, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

Yes, its true, I finally made it to the Today Show as part of the segment Five Minute Fix: How to Lose a Decade in Five Minutes and styled by the coolest chick, Amy Tara Koch. Amy is the fashion trend reporter for NBC, author of Bump It Up Style, a cool fashion guide […]

Occupy Wall Street Images – Wordless Wednesday

October 18, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

Finally, I had a chance to wander by Zuccotti Park. Let me say for the record, if you ask most New Yorkers, myself included, I did not even know the name of the park until Occupy Wall Street took over the space. And for the record, it’s not really a park, it’s a large slab […]

I almost met Amare Stoudemire

October 15, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

Yes, I almost New York Knick Amare Stoudemire. I was supposed to have an interview with Stoudemire at an event I attended this week but alas, I was twarted because I wasn’t a big time media outlet,  just a mom blogger with millions less readers than ESPN. Does it bother me? A little because I […]

Elephant by a Nose by Miquel Barcelo – Wordless Wednesday Linky

October 11, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life, Wordless Wednesday

Spanish artist Miquel Barcelo ” Gran Elefandret” Sculpture is an amazing 26 foot, 5 ton sculpture in Union Square. Balancing on his trunk, all of the weight of his saggy skin drooping,  you can imagine how noticeable a sculpture of this immense size stands out even amongst the skyscraper buildings in the area. Too cool.

How to Fix a Broken Finger with Emery Boards – A MacGyver Moment

October 11, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

Such a MacGyver moment in our household. Sometimes, I am fascinated my daughter’s ingenuity and creativity in solving problems. A few days ago, she insisted that her finger was broken. I was pretty sure it was not given she could still move it and it wasn’t swollen.  I think she just banged it into something […]
