This past weekend, we went to see Despicable Me. My daughter came out with two bon mots that brought a chuckle to me and the twenty somethings sitting next to her.
Bon Mot 1: Before the movie started, they showed a preview of Megamind. At some point, the voice over says “Starring Brad Pitt as Megamind” or words to that affect.
My daughter replies, “I know Brad Pitt.” Since the movie was starting, I shushed her.
Bon Mot 2: Again they showed a preview for “Tangled”, the new Disney movie based on Rapunzel fairy tale. After the preview, she says “that was interesting, they basically stole the Rapunzel story but it’s not the same.” And to this comment, the twenty somethings really chuckled.
So back to Brad Pitt. I had to wait until we came home to grill her about the Brad Pitt. To my knowledge, Brad Pitt has not done any movies that my daughter would have ever seen.
I asked her, “Who is Brad Pitt?” She replies, “he’s the one who played the Mad Hatter in Alice.” I, of course, corrected her, “That’s not Brad Pitt, you are talking about Johnny Depp.”
End of conversation.
