Pre-School Graduation Memories

May 7, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

Kindergarten Graduate T-Shirt (credit:squidoo.com)My friend’s daughter will be graduating from pre-school soon. We, of course, will be attending since she is another single mom whose family lives out of state and I like to support all my single mom friends.

Her daughter’s upcoming brought up fond memories of my daughter’s pre-school  graduation. It was a day filled with excitement, joy and a touch of sadness as it marked the end of an era. During our pre-school years, every morning, I would sit and have breakfast with a few of the dads (yes, dads do drop off) and we would discuss our kids, all girls. Siting and watching our kids in the morning was the best part of my day before running off to work. Once the graduation happened our morning breakfast ritual would be over.

As you can imagine, my daughter was excited about graduation. I am not sure if she was excited performing  or having her godmothers attend but no matter. The show was filled with fun songs, the kids each were assigned a state and had to recite all the fun facts of the state and the finale was an  animal show where they sang a song and each represented an animal. My daughter was playtpus. Too funny.

Of course no graduation would not be complete without a compilation of the kids through the years. Needless, to say when you listen to Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide (seriously, play the song now) coupled with pictures of your kids since they were one, tears are a coming.

As my daughter is only three years away from middle school, I look forward to her grade school graduation as another milestone in both our lives. Wonder what song will mark that milestone.
