Surprise, We are in Paris #NYCSingleMomTravels #Paris

September 1, 2013 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: International, Travel

This past week, I surprised my daughter with her first trip to Paris and London. For years, I have been talking about wanting to be able to take my daughter to Paris but I never got my act together to get the deal done. This year, I was determined to act as my airlines miles were devaluing by the minute so it was time to cash them in and be done with it.

Arriving at Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport as we head to Customs

I can not tell you I wanted to tell my daughter but waited literally to do the day we were leaving to tell her. To say she was shocked is in understatement. You couldn’t even fathom that we were leaving in a 20 minutes. Yes, I am not kidding. I picked her up from her playdate after running around for all those last minute errands, made her change clothes into comfy airline clothes no less before telling her.

My daughter could not resist having her photo taken in front of this poster at Baggage Claim

She was so excited all the way to the airport, I am almost started to cry. Even before I brought my daughter home, during the two years of waiting during my adoption process, I used to run through all the things I wanted to buy for my “little” girl,  but I also thought of all the experiences I wanted to her have and going to Paris together number one on my list. I don’t think she will know how much this means to me probably until she is an adult but that’s okay.

Stay tuned for our travel journal.

Paris is on my list of Must Do’s also. My husband won’t fly so I’ll probably be going solo with the kids.

awwwwwww- you’re my inspiration! That means 4 years, if i do the same, and I can take my daughter- I think 10 yrs old is a great age to take her! Thanks for being an inspiration!

I am glad it worked out coming when she is almost 11. I think any earlier is almost too young and more work for the parents.
