Flower Power by Ana Tzarev @AnaTzarev

April 16, 2013 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life, Wordless Wednesday

Ana Tzarev Gallery, Love Sculpture, love and Peace campaign

This past week, my daughter were wandering down 57th Street when I spotted this huge flower from the street.

I could not resist and wandered into the art gallery. I found out that poppy flower “Love” is the creation of Croation artist Ana Tzarev. Her plan  is to install these 15 foot sculptures and place them all over the world. So far the Love and Peace  flowers has appeared in  Shenzhen, China,  London’s Park Lane and now New York. Cool right!

Before I learned about the artist and the campaign, I asked the women who were working in the gallery, how much the sculpture was?  She hesitated “It’s not for sale” and  I responded “but for the right price.” And she nodded, “Well.” And there you have it, for the right price, you can buy this huge 15 foot sculpture and place in your very manicured garden.  Although, given that there were paintings in the window on sale for $1,000 how much could a 15 foot sculpture cost?

This is another reason why I love New York City is that you can walk down a street for years and suddenly something new will strike you and it prompts you to learn about a new artist you never heard of and certainly for my daughter, provide her with the experience of visiting her first art gallery. P.S. if you like art, don’t be intimidated by art galleries or the pretty people who work in them. They are polite, sometimes snooty but ignore them and enjoy the art.

It’s a beautiful flower, and your daughter looks lovely in front of it. Probably some corporation will grab it. I wouldn’t mind it if it was small enough to fit on a table.
