5 Ideas to Creating Stylish Allergy -Friendly Spaces

June 8, 2011 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Home and Decorating

I wrote this post while participating in a blog tour conducted by Clever Girls Collective on behalf of Claritin®. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program.

Updating my apartment is an ongoing process which is the case for most people. As much as I would love to just go on a full-scale shopping spree, alas, that is not an option but that doesn’t mean I can’t make little changes that can brighten and change the look of the apartment.

Here are five ideas to create stylish allergy friendly spaces:

  • Add decorative and bright pillows as a contrast to your sofa and chairs. This is really an inexpensive to change the entire feeling of your living room without spending a fortune. It much easier to replace a pillow than an entire sofa. Off price retailers like TJ Maxx and Target always has great pillows that won’t break the bank.

  • Update the bathroom with a new shower curtain and towels. Of course, if you have time, really change the look by repainting with a bright color.
  • Classic Percale Pinwheel Pillowcases (thecompanystore.com)

  • Add colorful pillowcases to spice up your bed.  It really is an inexpensive way to update your bedding instead of buying a new duvet cover. To avoid dust mites, remember to wash your bedding at more than 140 degrees.

  • Brighten your living room with a new colorful or patterned rug. This really does wonders to changing the entire tone of your living room especially  if you have a solid color sofa.
  • Create zones for books, magazines and mail to reduce clutter and try, try to throw unneeded documents on a regular basis to avoid accumulating dust.
