5 Things I will Miss about Elementary School #Parenting

June 20, 2014 by NYCSingleMom Filed Under: Single Mom Daily Life

This is it. It seems like yesterday, I was touring my daughter’s elementary school wandering the halls looking at artwork, and checking out the teachers. Today, my daughter will be graduating from 5th Grade and headed off the Middle School. Good god, where did the time go? Over the last few weeks, every time, I see a kindergartner, I get a little teary-eyed.

Kindergarten First Day

5 Things I will Miss about Elementary School

1. Walking my daughter to School

The best part of my day is walking my daughter to school. I will miss all those hilarious and serious conversations we have had over the years including things I have had to explain like  lottery or the concept of insurance or puberty.

2. The parents

Over the years, I have met some amazing parents which I will miss when we go to middle school. Sad to say that the likelihood of interacting with other parents will minimal since most parents will not be dropping or picking up their kids.

3. Seeing the Blog Husband, Mitch of gaynycdad.com

The most hilarious part of my morning is talking blog business with Mitch or finding out the latest gossip since he has more interaction with the parents.

4.  The Administration  and teachers

While some teachers weren’t perfect, I can honestly say the cared about my child and  was willing to work together to receive a good solid education.

5. Hugs and Kisses

As any parent of a  middle schooler knows, getting a public hug and a  kiss is all but impossible. God forbid,  their friends see them acting all baby like, getting a kiss from their mom.

So wish me luck some September when my daughter is officially a middle schooler.

What do  you miss about your child being in elementary school?
