This past weekend, Avengers: Age of Ultron opened to a huge box office which I am sure Avengers stars Jeremy Renner (Hawk Eye) and Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill) must be thrilled to be part of such a huge blockbuster. Like their fellow co-stars, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy and Cobie were a lot of fun to interview and provided lots of insight into their Avengers filming.
Spoiler Alerts – This interview contains spoilers.
Making Coffee
CS: Cobie Smulders reprising her role as Agent Maria Hill also gets more to do than making coffee (this was a joke she made in an interview for the first Avengers movie), plus she actually gets to interact with the Avengers in a scene that really is a lot of fun to watch and according to Smulders fun to be in.
Life Among the Guys is Fun
With the exception of the Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson), Agent Hill is the only continuing female character. She discussed what it was like to be this awesome woman agent amongst all the guys, “ it is fun” but mentioned how great it is to have so many strong female characters in the film, with Scarlett and now Lizzie (the Scarlett Witch.) I so agree with her when she said, “it’s just nice to see more women coming into these films.”
On Movie Magic CS
CS: Cobie joked about movie magic when it comes to her action scenes, no matter where she shoots, she always hits her mark.
JR: “You’re stabbing things with arrows that don’t exist and then firing arrows that don’t exist to things that don’t exist.”
Favorite Scene
JR: “I don’t believe in favorites. I think they’re equally torturous and wonderful.”
CS: Her favorite scenes were the ones filmed in the Avengers Tower where Tony Stark works on his suits was right below it. “It was really cool to play all these scenes out in one location. And it really sort of helped with performance as well.”
Greatest Thing that Has Happened Since Becoming an Avenger
JR: He mentioned how the greatest thing about being in a movie this big is experiencing when kids recognize him. And course it’s amazing when in the kid is in a costume. The flip side is when the dad comes in the same costume. “That’s a little creepy.”
