J&R Jr. – Destination Hotspot for Kids
J&R located in Lower Manhattan has been a destination for technology and music for both New Yorkers and visitors for forty years. Now there is a new kid in town, J&R Jr. It’s hard to believe but there is no one place to buy kid’s baby gear, toys and clothes especially given the number of families that live in Tribeca/Battery Park/Wall Street. But with J&R, Jr, downtowners and visitors can now shop at a cool new store with hip baby gear, strollers, clothes, kid friendly electronics and toys. That’s not all, J&R Jr. will also offer regular kid’s classes by MoonSoup, the popular childhood program that currently has classes in Queens and Midtown.
My daughter and I previewed the 15,000 square store before the February 11 Grand Opening We were treated to a fantastic show by The Amazing Max and the princesses.
J&R, Jr. was started by Jr. Jason Friedman after he became a dad and saw the need for a store like this in downtown Manhattan. While it’s a large size, it is not so overwhelming as the Buy Buy Baby chain store but that’s okay, the store is specially curated with popular and unique brands in each category. I loved that they had cool clothes (such a girl) for kids like Lazoo.comand Rowdy Sprout onsies. And while I am long past the stroller scene, there is specially designed stroller runway that simulates grass, carpet and cobblestone so you can test strollers like the Quinny stroller.
Want to check it out, then head down to J&R Jr. this weekend, February 11 and 12 as they are having a star filled, entertainment packed weekend to celebrate their grand opening.
Saturday’s line-up includes Laurie Berkner playing solo, the Little Maestros and Farmer Jason. Sunday’s line includes Dan Zanes and Dirtysock Funtime Band rock the store, Amazing Max the Magician and so much more. Visit J&R, Jr. for the entire weekend’s events.
J&R, Jr. is definitely worth checking for New Yorkers and visitors alike.
