ShaToBu Tights Review

[ 1 ] January 12, 2012 |

I am a big proponent of tummy control tights so that when I wear a dress or skirt I don’t feel like my stomach is sticking out so much.  Recently, I was asked to review the High Waist Tights by ShaToBu. ShaToBu tights don’t just have tummy control but provides the same muscle tone and calorie benefits of the ShaToBu body shaper.

Note: I did not look this when I tried them on

Shatobu was designed by a female chiropractor using scientific knowledge, that shapes your body,  and helps you tone and burn calories–all by just wearing it.

I decided to test out the tights for a recent event. I must admit getting them on proved quite the event itself. I don’t usually have a  problem putting on tights but I felt as though I was in some bad comedy scene where the girl is pulling up her tights and then falls over trying to get them on. I suppose it’s because the tights are so form fitting that getting into them is tough. I literally had to tug and pull the tights to shape it because of the tightness of the  material but once I got it all adjusted, I  still felt well uncomfortable. Because of the construction, I was literally being sucked in all over from my waist to my thighs. I suppose that is the goal, right. And I did like that the waist never rolled down ever. I hate that when the waist starts to slip and then you have skillfully pull them up. That’s fun at a cocktail party.

If I rubbed my tummy, I could feel the tightness of the Lycra material.  Needless to say I had to go commando because my panty line would have shown. After some time, I did get used to it.

Now I have no idea if the tights actually burn calories. Frankly, I am a tad skeptical in the claim but it did smooth out all the bumps underneath my sweater dress which is what I  am aiming for in body shaper/tummy control tights.

If you are looking tights that really shapes your body and smooths down all the bumps and lines, then definitely ShaToBu High Waisted Tights to see how they fit.

ShāToBu product lines not only includes the high waist tights, but also includes leggings, posture supporting tees and tanks and is available at shatobu.com,  major department stores and bareneccessities.com. And I would be remiss in not mentioning that the tights cost $38 which seems high but again, it did accomplish it’s goal of controlling all my bumps and also NEVER fell down which cheaper tights do in fact roll from the waist which is annoying and embarrassing. That said, I think that pricing of the body shapers, leggings is on par with competitors.

I had to “sausage” myself into them this morning for a review – and I’m not that large of a person! I finally got the hang of it after two tries. I love the texture on the tights, though. Posting my review tonight :)
