First Leather Jacket from 77Kids – Fashion Friday
77 Kids NYC is located in Times Square. Up until now I had only heard of the store and never visited the Times Square location. If you live in New York, unless you work in the area, one has a tendency to avoid Times Square unless you are seeing a Broadway show.
This week, courtesy of Moms and the City, I actually was able to check out the store with my daughter. The 77 Kids Times Square is located in the lower level of American Eagle. Store designers definitely thought of the shopping mom when they designed the layout of store. You try concentrating on looking at clothes but also trying to keep your kids occupied. Not easy, right. The store includes photo booths to keep the kids occupied as well as this mechanical clothes line that pulls jeans around the store. Too cool!
The clothing line runs from baby to tweens so it was perfect for us. The clothes are definitely more hip than the usual places I shop which is a good thing especially as my daughter is heading into the tween years.
I would have gone for some funky, hip graphic tees but alas they were long sleeves and like her mom, my daughter tends not to wear long sleeves in the winter.
But somehow we both gravitated towards this funky faux leather jacket, so throw caution to the wind, that’s what we went with instead of doing the practical and stocking up on jeans. And for the record, I bought the jacket two sizes two big which you can’ t tell in the photo so she will be able to wear it the next couple of years.
As much as I loved the 77Kids line, I must admit I think that the line is a tad pricier than I would normally spend but like shopping for myself, it’s always good to mix up mass retail purchases with more expensive pieces and I don’t seen anything wrong with interjecting your kids wardrobe with a few choice pieces (note the word few.)
