Lady Gaga and Santa Together – Gaga’s Workshop – Fashion Friday

[ 3 ] December 2, 2011 |

New York City Holiday windows are one of the highlights of the season but this year the Barney’s windows are made all the more special, hip and cool with Lady Gaga’s influence.

Lady Gaga worked with Barneys’ creative director Dennis Freedman and  fashion director Nicola Formichetti  to come up with some amazing seasonal window displays. And these windows are not even remotely holiday like. My favorite window display is a made up entirely out of hair, and I mean the entire display from the model to the furniture to the window treatments.

Not only does Lady Gaga own the windows, there is an entirely floor dedicated to all things Gaga, aptly named Gaga’s Workshop. The workshop is indescribable. Seriously, it’s like they took all the colors from a Crayon box and went wild. Totally in your face. We loved it. It is so wildly expressive like the lady herself. There is a huge Gaga spider that you can’t miss.  The workshop is filled with every imaginable item from Lady Gaga cookies, to egg spin toy, press on nails, lots of jewelry, clothes and books.  I applaud Lady Gaga and the Barney’s team for doing this. Barney’s is an intimidating store for most New Yorkers and non-New Yorkers and it’s a great way to get people into the store who would otherwise keep walking by.

My daughter and I had a great time because seriously it was like going to an exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art. My only bugaboo was the cost of all the items pretty darn pricing. I did try to buy my daughter a t-shirt but alas, it would have lasted like a month before shrinking (it was 100% cotton.) That was probably their only misstep, not having t-shirts for the tween/teen set.

Definitely worth going.
