Wolfgang Puck Organic Soups - Tomato Basil Bisque
Wolfgang Puck® Soups are a delicious meal problem solver. I am not always the best meal planner and I am sure many of you like me, find that the end of the day comes in the blink of an eye and there you are suddenly faced with having to go the supermarket. Wolfgang Puck’s soups are the ideal solution – great as a stand-alone meal in a pinch or perfect for lunch paired with crackers and salad.
For those who may not know who Wolfgang Puck is, he is one of those old school celebrity chefs who actually become popular through his restaurants like Spago in Los Angeles. He is the chef that is responsible for feeding the guests of the Academy Awards after the big Oscar show. He has numerous books and has made a gazillion appearances on every major talk show.
Soups are not exactly something I go out of my way to eat but both the Tomato Basil Bisque and the Hearty Vegetable soups were delicious. Okay, I wasn’t too happy when they sent tomato because, something about tomato soup just does not sit well with me but Wolfgang Puck’s Tomato Basil Bisque Soup was especially creamy, not too tangy, a tad sweet, had a real tomato flavor, plus I am going to assume that the addition of basil made the entire soup come together. I had planned on just having 1 serving, supposedly the can has 2 servings but seriously, I couldn’t resist just finishing the can because it was only 300 calories total. I paired my Tomato Basil Bisque soup with Three Cheese Pretzel Crisps which was a total yummy combination. And the Wolfgang Puck® Tomato Basil Bisque soup is USDA-certified organic and gluten-free.

The second soup I tried was the Hearty Garden Vegetable which I paired with Sesame Pretzel Crisps and salad. The soup was full of chunks of organic tomatoes, potatoes, green beans and peas while the vegetable stock was quite flavorful and for someone who is not a fan of vegetable soup, I liked it and would try it again. Again, I had to eat the entire can because one serving is really not enough but luckily, 2 servings is only 260 calories. The soup is also USDA organic but doesn’t seem to be gluten free.

I only tried the two type of soups but there are other yummy sounding flavors like Signature Tortilla, New England Chowder, Roasted Pepper and Tomato, Minestrone, Chicken and Dumplings and many more which I can’t wait to try. And the soups are priced at an affordable $2.50 a can and can be found in the New York area at Whole Foods, Stop and Shop and Bed, Bath and Beyond but the soups are available at Target (not sure which ones but look for them and they are sometimes on sale.) Note not all the soups are gluten free, not sure, why but check the website for details for each type of soup. My only bugaboo is the sodium content which seems to be running around 35% of your daily value. I know some really look at the labels (hey, I am working on it) but it seems to be that all soups seemed to have this issue of trying to reduce the sodium content.
That said, give Wolfgang Puck soups a try.
