Girls aged 5-12 can now create their own fashions at FashionPlaytes.com, a design-it-yourself fashion destination. My daughter and I had the opportunity to test drive FashionPlaytes virtual studio that puts my daughter in the designer’s seat. Using the site, my daughter was able to the choose amongst a wide of clothing options that includes jeans, hoodies, jeggings, jackets, tees, and more, then she was able to choose the style and color, and then add her own flair with embellishments such as ribbons, ruffles, lace, rhinestones, and appliques. She was even able to create a personal label featuring her name.
Once we decided on the clothing, a dress, we both had a great time picking and choosing the embellishments for each part of the dress. I must admit that I had to let her just do it rather than impose my own style ideas. According to the company, there over a 5 million design combinations and I believe it.
The clothing is inexpensive ranging $14 – 22 for an individual item and the add ons range from $2- $10. Be forewarned that if you don’t pay attention, you can run up quite the tab of trimmings and embellishment. And while, we don’t have an American Doll, fans will be thrilled to know that you can make a child and doll outfit together. How cool is that.

FashionPlaytes.com has some cool new features that will be released in 2011:
- New Interactive Features will be introduced in the Spring. Girls will be able to create their own Avatar and then be able to design outfits for themselves adn their avatars. Both can be saved a “Collection Rooms” they can decorate just like a virtual room.
